Oscars thoughts:
- Zoe Saldana, Amanda Seyfried, Carey Mulligan, Chris Pine are so pretty.

- YAY AVATAR DIDN'T WIN.
- Best speeches: Sandra Bullock adn the costume designer.
- Trek won something! They should've shown Gaila.

- I wish it could be a public holiday on Oscar day every year.



So I went to a con yesterday and it was awesome. Stargate and Farscape, so a bunch of people I didn't know along with Ben Browder, Claudia Black and Gigi Edgley from Farscape and HOLY CRAP MACGYVER, FOR REAL. Not so awesome was the flat tire I got driving from Canberra to Sydney in the rain on Friday night :( I missed most of the party, but I met Claudia, who was lovely and is just beautiful. She was very nice. Didn't meet anyone else that night, then I showed up the next day and sort of bounced around the venue hanging out with people. Photos were up first and I met MACGYVER, HOLY CRAP, so that was awesome. He and Ben were both quite touchy-feely, they both put their arm around everyone as soon as they can in for the photo. Both really nice, too :)

The talks were good, the best one I went to (didn't go to two, because I felt disingenuous not knowing the guests) was actually Chris Judge and Dan Shea, who I really only barely knew. They did a shirtless knuckle push-up contest. Some bonehead questions from the audience, one from me for RDA. Claudia signed a photo for baldie_troll for his birthday, which was lovely (I looked like a moron when I was trying to buy him a damn present, because there was all this great stuff and I was texting him messages with picture of it and he was like "I don't want that. Are there Vala action figures?") I didn't have very interesting conversations with anyone, but my photos and autographs rock.

I drove back for baldie_troll's birthday, so by that night I was exhausted, and then I got a virus at midnight last night and my internet is slow and I had to download a bunch of stuff to get rid of it and didn't sleep until like 4:30. I'm soooo tired now. I got him an autograph from Claudia that said "birthday wishes" and a Vala doll.

I watched the premiere of 'V' last night. It was ok. I don't know, it doesn't really feel new or exciting, and everybody but Anna feels like a character I've seen before. Anyone who didn't see the Alan twist coming must have failed TV Logic 101.

I need to go to bed, but I really want to do this first: GLEE CAST! The event was poorly organised and I didn't get a t-shirt, which sucks, but the cast were LOVELY. So, report of my interactions with them, in order of signing:

Dianna:
Is very, very pretty and asked me what my name was. She said she was having a wonderful time here and was generally very sweet. And pretty.

Mark:
GUH. Wow, wasn't expecting that. He's smoking hot. Really nice eyes. Anyway, asked him if he was having a good time and he was like "I'm having a real good time" in this voice that kind of made me want to crawl across the table. I resisted. Then I told him I'd seen him in Acafellas and he blew me away, I thought he was amazing. He said thank you and asked me how it was I'd seen Acafellas already and I was like "Uh...leeegally?" and he laughed and said "Yeah, legally, okay. Well, thank you!" and it was a nice moment. In fact, it was probably the best interaction I had.

Tina:
I asked how she was and whether she was having a good time. She was also very sweet and excited, but I didn't talk to her for very long. I have a feeling I said something else but I've forgotten what it was, so it can't have been interesting.

Amber:
She was so friendly and, erm, sweet. She seemed really genuinely excited to be there. She said Australia was beautiful and she was loving it, and that her spider bite is a lot better now.

Kevin:
I was distracted by him smiling at me really intensely. He was like HI! I told him I liked his boy band and he laughed. Again, said he was having a really great time here and he said he had lots of fun in Melbourne.

Chris:
Okay. This has never, in 13 years of fandom and 6 years of cons, happened to me before. Ever. I tend to be at least moderately collected when I meet famous people, even if I do come over all polite and have nothing to say. But for some reason, when I was faced with Chris, what came out of my mouth wasn't so much "Hi, how are you?" as "HIII LOVE YOU." I DON'T KNOW WHY. IT WAS BIZARRE. He was like "Uh...wow, thank you" and then I tried to make up for it by talking to him for the longest of anyone about how I have a friend who is like him on the show, and whether he thought Australia was a good place to go for his first overseas trip (he was like "I never want to leave, I love it here!") and asking whether they had to leave straight away (they have another week, so they'll really get to do some sightseeing.) He was very sweet. Shocker. It was still hugely embarassing, though. I didn't even know I liked him that much. I think it's just because Kurt's so much like the friends I actually make in real life that I felt like I already knew him. I'm quite proud of myself for not pinching his cute little cheeks, though.

Cory:
I got to say hi and ask how he was enjoying Australia, but while he was looking at me with those adorable dimples and answering, a girl in the audience grabbed the question mic to ask if he'd marry her. Lea was next to him and she was like "just say yes", so he did.

Lea:
While that was going on, Lea took my poster and signed it, so I only got to ask her how she was before I had to leave. Cory and Lea seemed nice but I didn't get to say anything to them :(

ETA: Forgot to mention that I got to the mall at about 8:30 but then wandered around lost for like 20 minutes before finally finding the place and meeting up with alee23. We hung out and went to Max Brenner for lunch and I had a good time.

MISHA COLLINS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED FOR THE HUB CONVENTION. WHAT?!?!?! IT TURNS OUT MY NICKNAME FOR THE CONVENTION IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I WILL BE SURPRISED IF I RETURN HOME WITHOUT MELTING ENTIRELY.

AAAAAHHHH!!

ETA: If they could somehow get the car (and maybe Jim Beaver) to make an appearance, this would be the ULTIMATE Supernatural convention experience.

A very happy birthday to kilted, vehiclesshockme, and fitofpique!

I am so exhausted from my Paddywhack weekend. He was lovely. I asked him how he was and whether he was enjoying his trip during the autographs, and he said 'I love Australia and I love Australians', to which my brilliant response was 'I love America and Americans'. Fortunately, I did not then actually bash my head against the table the way I wanted to. The photo session went better, I got a hug and asked about Harley and Sadie. Harley's had an operation but he's doing fine now, and they were getting fat at their 'grandparents' house. He was so adorable talking about them, he seemed genuinely happy I'd asked. SO CUTE, that boy, seriously, such a darling. My photo came out ok. My photo with Kandyse McClure sucks, but she was super sweet too. We had a chat about people pre-judging BSG based on the fact that it's sc-fi (*cough*melissajane14*cough*) and she was really lovely, and very beautiful. I saw Jewel a bit, but didn't get a photo or autograph because I've done that before.

Supanova just can't hold a candle to Hub in terms of interaction and organisation, though. They were a mess. They rushed you through everything, had no system when it came to autographs or photos or anything, and did stupid things like putting Jewel in a tiny seminar room when hundreds of people turned up for her talks. We didn't even get in today. There was SO much unnecessary queuing going on. The panels were excellent for the most part, even if a few of the questions (more than a few in Jared's case) were just terrible. I'm sure somebody else will write about what he said, and there will be pictures, I'm sure - none from me, I have no camera. All the guests I saw, including a bit of Nichelle Nichols, were entertaining and charming and way better than that crappy convention deserved. I got to see leishpod and a bunch of other people, which was great. Now I must go pass out in bed so I can wake up tomorrow and convince myself my legs still work and I can go watch kids. Bah.

I have recently become obsessed with Luna and Xenophilius Lovegood (not like that, you perverts) and my new movie channels. Also, I have these two t-shirts in a cart at Threadless because of their sale and am trying to justify buying them when I desperately need new jeans and other winter-type clothes. I have one jumper and one coat that I have on rotation, I swear. But, augh, the rockem sockem robots are kissing!!!! And GRAMMAR! On a T-SHIRT!
